A little update before we go.
I thought I’d bore you all, I mean tease and tantilase you all with some of our plans.
We head off on Friday evening around teatime and plan to meet up at Keele services then travel in convoy for the rest of the 600miles. Yes of course we have radios to keep in touch. We have even assigned each other callsigns, Mike wants to be “Broadsword” so that makes me “Danny Boy” yes it’s from the movie. Where Eagles Dare.
Ferry crossing is at 02:20 Saturday and we arrive on site in the Loire Saturday afternoon.
After setting up it’s either a quick dip in the new pool or a quick raid of the supermarket then a dip.
Our time is then free except for Tuesday, Friday and Tuesday when we have activities already booked.
Tuesday week 1 we head to Puy Du Fou, a French theme park with a twist…. No rides! It’s all live stunt shows with a historical bent. There is a Viking show, a Roman Gladiator show and the Knights de la Table Ronde, Knights of the round table to us. It’s a FULL ON day with an evening show on the lake to round off.
Friday we head back to Puy Du Fou but this time for a Night Time Spectacular involving almost 3000 performers. It’s only on Friday and Saturday during the summer and really is a Spectacular event.
The following Tuesday we head to Futuroscope Park near Poitiers. Futuroscope is another theme park with a difference. There are some rides but the adult rides are of the 4D simulator type. One of the popular one is Artur et Les minimois. Arthur and the Invisibles where you ride on the back of a flying bug to escape the predator.
Lots of the other exhibits are based around IMAX cinema technology but they take it much further than you will see at your local cinema including screens under your feet and curved wrap around screens where the action is all around you.
Of course there is a night time spectacular on the lake as well as some fantastic futuristic architecture.
Other things we have on the must do list include a visit to Chateau Chambord, Vilandry and Chenonceau. Plus the Son et Lumiere at Blois, plenty of wine tasting and making some time to relax…….
