So it finally arrived departure day!
Monday 6th August…. Yeah strange day to go. As it happens rather fortuitous, you see the weekend was the French Exodus…. Black Friday when it seems that every Frenchman and his dog hit the road. So we missed that. All thanks to our Niece deciding to get married on the day we would usually leave for France.
We had a couple of new things for the van a) a Safefill Gas cylinder – a refillable gas cylinder b) a Tyre Pal Tyre pressure monitoring system. I’ll do separate reviews on each of those. I’m not going to review the site much only the updates as it’s all unchanged from our last review just a new restaurant.
So as usual I went to work on Monday. We had been smart and packed the van over the weekend. We also fired up the fridge on Gas whilst the van was in storage to chill it down. Halys did the final packing while I was at work and filled the fridge etc..
We set off at 7pm ish for a 02:20am ferry crossing. We arrived at the M6 to find traffic standing…. luckily we swereved that one by going down the A roads to the next junction. Then down the M6 Toll where thanks to the Caravan & Motorhome Club we didn’t have to pay for the caravan.
The next issue came at the M40 M25 when our exit was closed – “How Rude?” We eventually made it to Dover however an hour late so crossed on the 03:20am ferry.
Then followed the LONG drive south. Paris-Orleans-Vierzon-Limoges-Tolouse-Perpignan. We arrived at 22:30 at the campsite. Camping Le Soliel. We asked security if there was anywhere we could spend the night and was told yes no problem just park over there. If you want to use the toilet or showers just go ahead. Great!
We checked in at 08:30am and was pitched and even had the awning up by 10:30am
So we’re all set. 20 nights in heaven.
